“your Donation saves lives” Gives Hope to 67 Patients with Kidney Failure

Starting, Wednesday, "Emarat Al Youm" newspaper, in collaboration with Al Jalila Foundation, part of Dubai Health Authority, and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, is launching the humanitarian initiative titled " your Donation saves lives" for its second season.

The initiative aims to support 67 patients suffering from kidney failure by facilitating kidney transplants in Dubai, with a total funding of AED 46,157,970. It seeks to encourage the private sector, business leaders, and community members to adopt the initiative and provide necessary support to the targeted group.

The initiative includes a list of kidney failure patients needing transplants, comprising 15 children and 52 adults of various nationalities, including GCC nationals, 24 Arab nationals, 33 Asian patients, six European nationals, and two African nationals.

Mohammed Musabeh Dahi, Acting Executive Director of the Charitable Work Sector at the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, emphasized that the "Your Donation saves lives " initiative in its second season, in collaboration with Al Jalila Foundation and "Emarat Al Youm" newspaper, will significantly contribute to the national agenda of improving the lives of citizens and residents in the UAE. The initiative aims to provide essential support to enable those with critical conditions to access necessary healthcare, assisting them in becoming productive members of society. He called on all generous individuals to contribute, as their donations have a significant impact on the lives of these patients.

Musabeh added that the " Your Donation saves lives" campaign stems from a belief in the importance of charitable work in achieving social solidarity and alleviating the suffering of the most needy in our community. Every donation represents a new hope for someone in need of support and suffering from a chronic illness. He noted that everyone can be a reason for providing treatment to those who desperately need it, emphasizing that this tradition is deeply rooted in the people of the UAE, reflecting the culture of giving within the community into sustainable results.

Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, Executive Director of Al Jalila Foundation, stated that the second edition of the " Your Donation saves lives" campaign aims to support 67 kidney failure patients (15 children and 52 adults) from 25 different nationalities, with a budget of over AED 46 million. This reflects the pivotal role that Dubai Health Authority plays in achieving the objectives of the national program for organ and tissue donation and transplantation in the UAE, aiming to support the state's efforts to encourage individuals to donate organs and tissues to save lives.

This year’s campaign builds upon the significant success of the previous edition, combining the efforts of Al Jalila Foundation, which leads the charitable initiatives within Dubai Health Authority, alongside the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department and "Emarat Al Youm" newspaper, as well as the community contributions platform "Jood." Together, they aim to support kidney failure patients by covering the costs of kidney transplants, treating dialysis patients, and providing post-transplant care, exemplifying the collaborative efforts among various entities in Dubai and the impact of community partnerships on enhancing healthcare and humanitarian work.

Al Zarooni pointed out that this humanitarian campaign falls within Al Jalila Foundation's efforts to enhance community health and improve individuals' lives based on the values of giving, aligning with Dubai Health Authority's goals to elevate human health and advance healthcare.

Ibrahim Shukrallah, Editor-in-Chief of "Emarat Al Youm" newspaper, stated that the initiative is part of the social initiatives that the newspaper has been implementing for years, achieving widespread success. It primarily aims to provide treatment and kidney transplants for 67 patients of various nationalities and ages, with a total cost of AED 46,157,970. He added, "We invite government and private institutions, business leaders, and individuals to activate their humanitarian and community roles more actively, reflecting national unity and solidarity in supporting such community initiatives, which embody the leadership's policy in humanitarian charitable work for the public good."

" Your Donation saves lives " in Its First Season

Four years ago, "Emarat Al Youm" newspaper launched the " Your Donation saves lives" initiative in its first season in collaboration with Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai. The national community initiative began at the start of Ramadan, and by the end of the month, it reached its predetermined goal by motivating the private sector, business leaders, and community members to support the initiative and provide the necessary assistance to the targeted group, resulting in successful kidney transplant surgeries for the patients involved in the initiative.
