The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai announced the launch of the online Hijri calendar 1443, based on the intensive and continuous work of the committee consisting of astronomers and calendar experts according to Sharia, scientific and astronomical standards since its establishment fifty years ago. The online Hijri calendar is free for all community members.
The calendar includes the prayer times, religious occasions, and official holidays in the UAE according to Sharia, scientific and astronomical standards considered in the calculation by scholars, as well as calculating the early Hijri months and religious occasions, taking into account the new changes affecting prayer times.
His Excellency Hamad Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Director General of IACAD, indicated that the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department is working on issuing the official Hijri calendar for Dubai, and by launching it online this year as well, it reflects IACAD’s full commitment to adopting the directions of the leadership in digital transformation.
"On this occasion, we remind all Muslims around the world of the specialized website "The Global Platform for Prayer Times" at the following address: http://salatcalendar.com, which it helps knowing the prayer times for any part of the world.” His Excellency added, “The website launched last year in partnership with the International Astronomy Center.” His Excellency concluded, explaining that the website is in order to enhance the ability to provide mechanisms that contribute to the provision of high-quality services.
A group of specialists in IACAD is working on the Hijri calendar, to set prayer times for the Dubai mosques and its suburbs, such as Hatta, Lahbab, Al-Lisaili, Marghem, Marqab, and Al-Faqa. The calendar also includes a group of rulings, sermons, sayings, dates of religious and national events and official holidays during 1443 (2021 – 2022), such as the date of fasting on Ashura, the date of the Prophet’s birthday, the date of the first Ramadan, and the date of the first days of Eid al-Fitr and the date of the beginning of Eid al-Adha. This contributes to spreading the spirit of tolerance and coexistence and achieving more social cohesion and civilizational interdependence among all groups and segments of society.
It is noteworthy that the Hijri calendar for 1443 AH is available in its electronic version on IACAD website www.iacad.gov.ae, and on the IACAD’s smart application as a widget feature.
