Donor Pays AED 138800 for Rasha’s Crohn’s Disease Treatment in Coordination with IACAD and "Hotline"

Donor Pays AED 138800 for Rasha’s Crohn’s Disease Treatment in Coordination with IACAD and "Hotline"

A generous donor has covered the cost of treatment for 19-year-old Rasha, amounting to AED 138,828. Rasha suffers from Crohn’s disease, a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the intestines. Her treatment included surgery to remove the inflamed portion of her intestines. Her family, facing difficult financial circumstances, was unable to afford the cost of her medical care.

The donation was coordinated through the “Hotline” in collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai. The amount was transferred to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, where Rasha is receiving her necessary treatment.

Rasha’s father expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the donor, noting that the humanitarian gesture brought great relief to the family and restored hope during a time of deep distress. He added that such acts of kindness are not unusual in the UAE, where generosity and community solidarity are a daily reality.

Emarat Al Youm had previously published Rasha’s story, which began five years ago when she started experiencing severe abdominal pain and rapid weight loss. After a series of tests and medical examinations, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Doctors recommended surgery to remove the affected parts of her intestines, in addition to ongoing treatment with medication and special injections to manage the disease.

Her father explained that the cost of treatment was far beyond their means, especially as he works as a delivery agent earning a monthly salary of only AED 3,000. He added that their family of five was overwhelmed with sadness, unable to afford the necessary care for their daughter to live a normal life.
