The patient "Abu Abdulwahab" (60 years old, Sudanese nationality) received a donation of 22,000 AED from a benefactor to cover his medical treatment costs after suffering a stroke a year ago. The stroke led to a mobility disability, leaving him bedridden, in addition to suffering from high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes. The patient required medication worth 22,000 AED, a sum he was unable to afford due to his difficult financial situation. The donation was coordinated between the benefactor, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, and the "Hotline" service, which transferred the amount to the patient's account at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
The patient expressed his deep gratitude to the donor for their prompt response and generous support during such challenging circumstances, emphasizing that this donation reflects the spirit of giving that the people of the UAE are known for.
The patient's struggle was shared by Emirates Today, where he recounted his experience. He mentioned that a year ago, he experienced severe headaches and sudden difficulty breathing, which led to a loss of consciousness and his hospitalization. After medical examinations, it was discovered that he had a severe increase in blood pressure, causing a stroke. Although doctors managed to control his breathing issue, the stroke left him with partial paralysis, confining him to bed.
The patient explained that he is now undergoing physical therapy, following a special diet, and adhering to his medication schedule, while also using a device to alleviate his breathing difficulties. However, his medical treatment and medications total 22,000 AED, a sum his family cannot afford. He also mentioned that he was previously employed with a salary of 5,000 AED in Abu Dhabi but is now unemployed due to his health condition, and his family relies on financial help from his brother to cover daily expenses.
