The "Yaak Al-Awn" initiative in its sixth season, launched by Emirates Today, the Dubai Courts, and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, achieved its humanitarian goal and set a record within four weeks of its launch. This success was made possible through donations from 10 government, private, and charitable institutions, as well as nine individual donors from the community. The initiative helped pay off the debts of 327 citizens facing financial difficulties and legal proceedings, amounting to AED 32,120,500. The Dubai Courts' "Courts of Goodness" committee worked diligently to communicate with creditors and reduce the debts of the beneficiaries, thus helping them regain their family stability and peace of mind.
Emirates Today, the Dubai Courts, and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai launched the "Yaak Al-Awn 6" humanitarian initiative at the beginning of this month, aiming to release citizens financially troubled and legally pursued in Dubai. The initiative, which coincides with the holy month of Ramadan and the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, is a prominent community initiative under the newspaper's societal efforts in the "Year of Community."
The initiative achieved a record in its sixth season in terms of donations, surpassing the target by more than 60%. The number of beneficiaries increased from 212 to 327 citizens, and the target amount grew from AED 20 million to AED 32 million due to a large influx of donors and organizations willing to contribute. The Dubai Courts' "Courts of Goodness" facilitated debt settlements with creditors, reducing the outstanding debts from AED 58,762,819 to AED 32,120,500.
Among the significant donors were Emirates Islamic Bank, which donated AED 2 million, the Al Khair Charity Association with AED 3 million, The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai with AED 2 million, Dubai Insurance Company with AED 1 million, Al-Waleed Real Estate with AED 1 million, the Dubai Endowment and Minor Affairs Foundation with AED 1 million, the Tarahum Charity Foundation with AED 2 million, Harbor Real Estate with AED 100,000, and individual donors who contributed AED 12,020,500. Dubai Islamic Bank also contributed AED 6 million, and Dar Al Ber Society donated AED 2 million. The total donations for this initiative reached AED 32,120,500, which helped release 327 citizens from the initiative.
Dr. Saif Ghanem Al-Suwaidi, Director of the Dubai Courts, said: "Today, we celebrate the success of the 'Yaak Al-Awn 6' campaign, which has concluded with remarkable results that reflect the collaborative efforts and spirit of cooperation among all members of society and state institutions. This success is the fruit of collective work that embodies the noble values of solidarity and giving that characterize the UAE. He added, "The sixth edition of 'Yaak Al-Awn' was a wonderful model of social solidarity, where we were able to achieve the campaign's objectives thanks to the generous support of the donors who set a live example of responsibility toward others. Therefore, I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all the donors who contributed to the success of this campaign, as their generous giving had a significant impact on achieving the noble goals we aimed for." He pointed out that this achievement coincides with the "Year of Community," which reflects our continuous commitment to working together and effectively cooperating to build a nation based on love and social solidarity. He added, "At the Dubai Courts, we believe that such initiatives are an essential part of our future vision, which places the well-being of the community at the heart of its priorities."
Ahmed Darwish Al-Muhairi, Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, said: "With the conclusion of the sixth season of 'Yaak Al-Awn,' we proudly confirm that it successfully fulfilled its noble humanitarian mission, as it contributed to relieving the financial burden of 327 citizens by paying off their debts, which amounted to AED 32 million, giving them a new chance for a more stable life." He added, "This achievement reflects the spirit of community solidarity upon which our country's vision is built, confirming the UAE's approach in spreading the culture of social responsibility and strengthening human cohesion." Al-Muhairi continued, "This success aligns with our department's strategy to enhance our closeness to the community. Through its six seasons, the initiative has helped release 1,036 financially troubled citizens, with an amount exceeding AED 125 million. This humanitarian extension reflects our commitment to supporting family stability and enhancing our role in helping the most vulnerable groups."
Ibrahim Shukrallah, Editor-in-Chief of Emirates Today, noted that the "Yaak Al-Awn" initiative reflects the rigorous efforts to establish the concept of community partnership and positive values. He expressed pride in Emirates Today continuing, through its humanitarian line "The Hotline," its role in this initiative, as it has a direct positive impact on the lives of people, especially those in financial distress. He pointed out that the ultimate goal of the initiative is to release these individuals and offer them a chance to rebuild their lives with their families, especially during the "Year of Community." Shukrallah added, "The initiative succeeded in achieving its humanitarian goal in one month, thanks to the contributions of 10 government, private, and charitable institutions and nine individual donors, showing community cohesion through the joint efforts of individuals and institutions." He emphasized that the initiative has, over its six seasons, helped release 1,036 citizens, with donations totaling AED 125,175,130.
Shukrallah further shared that due to the large demand from donors, government bodies, and charitable organizations wishing to participate, Emirates Today, the Dubai Courts, and The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai decided to increase the number of beneficiaries in the initiative from 212 to 327 citizens and raise the target amount from AED 20 million to AED 32 million. He called on everyone to continue supporting the "Yaak Al-Awn" initiative and to actively participate in achieving further successes, helping more individuals in our community, as "every effort made can make a big difference in the lives of others."
