Two donors have covered the cost of medical treatment totaling AED 21,152 for Um Nermin, a 53-year-old Sudanese woman battling multiple chronic health conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
A medical report from Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi indicates that Um Nermin requires consistent monthly medication and regular hospital follow-ups to manage her deteriorating health. Her condition took a critical turn after she was unable to afford treatment and missed several necessary medical appointments.
About a year ago, Um Nermin suffered from acute shortness of breath, leading to an emergency hospital admission. Urgent diagnostic tests revealed severe complications in both her respiratory and cardiovascular systems. She remained hospitalized for ten days under close medical supervision. Although her condition initially stabilized, her health declined significantly in recent months due to the interruption of essential medications and lack of ongoing care.
Facing dire circumstances, Um Nermin’s daughter reached out to the public, appealing to charitable individuals to help cover her mother’s treatment expenses.
The Hotline team facilitated coordination between the donors and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai to ensure the donation was securely transferred to the hospital account.
Grateful for the support, Um Nermin’s daughter extended her heartfelt thanks to the donors for their swift and compassionate response, saying, “This kind gesture is a true reflection of the UAE’s generous and humanitarian spirit.”
She further explained that her mother had initially been prescribed a full year of treatment after her condition improved, but financial hardship prevented the family from securing the necessary medications.
The family relies solely on her husband's salary of AED 10,000, from which AED 1,800 is allocated to monthly loan repayments. Her father, elderly and unable to work due to illness, is also financially dependent on the same household income. Her husband supports not only their nuclear family of four but also her parents and sister. Thanks to the timely donation, Um Nermin can now resume her treatment and regular follow-up care, offering renewed hope for a better quality of life.
