As part of enhancing the culture of giving and charitable work during the blessed month of Ramadan, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has launched the third edition of the "Step of Life" initiative within the "Ramadan in Dubai" . The initiative represents a model of community solidarity that transforms participants' steps into real support for those in need, through an innovative mechanism that measures the number of steps and converts them into charitable contributions. The proceeds of the initiative are directed to the "Waqf Al-Ab" (Father's Endowment).
The initiative is based on the principle of competition between ten residential neighborhoods of Dubai. The app allows participants to track their daily steps and add them to their team's community total. At the end of the month, the neighborhood with the highest number of steps is honored. However, the true value of the initiative lies in its long-term humanitarian impact. These collective steps contribute to providing tangible support to those in need through strategic partnerships with active charitable institutions, the most prominent of which over the past two years has been Al Jalila Foundation, which has benefited from the donations raised by this initiative to support those in need and people of determination.
Mohammed Musbeh Dahi, Executive Director of the Charitable Work Sector and General Coordinator of the Ramadan in Dubai initiative, emphasized that the "Step of Life" initiative reflects the essence of solidarity that characterizes the UAE society. He pointed out that the core idea of the initiative goes beyond the sporting aspect to become a message of hope that enhances the concept of sustainable giving. He added, "A step may seem small in appearance, but it carries great significance in its content. It combines sports and charity, raising societal awareness about the importance of holistic well-being, and transforms daily physical activity into contributions with a true humanitarian impact. The initiative is a continuation of the success achieved over the past two years, which has resulted in generous donations directly benefiting many individuals."
The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department invites all members of the community to participate in "Step of Life" through the STEPPi app and contribute to achieving the goals of the initiative by turning their daily steps into real support for those in need. This serves as a reminder that giving can be part of daily practices, and that Ramadan remains a month overflowing with goodness and humanitarian work that transcends borders to reach those in dire need of support.
