As part of its commitment to empowering youth and strengthening their active presence in community initiatives, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has launched a new Ramadan community initiative titled “Shabab Al Freej.” The initiative, introduced by the Youth Vision Council of the Department, targets young people and aims to discover and nurture emerging talents in the field of the Adhan (call to prayer), while instilling authentic Islamic values and identity, and strengthening their connection to mosques and their rituals.
This initiative builds upon the remarkable success of the “Muathin Al Freej” program dedicated to children, which was implemented over three consecutive seasons and contributed to preparing a young generation closely connected to the mosque and its rituals. Today, the Department takes a deliberate step forward by expanding the initiative to include youth aged 18 and above, reflecting its commitment to engaging different age groups and sustaining investment in promising voices across generations.
“Shabab Al Freej” focuses on providing talented and interested youth with the opportunity to perform the Adhan during the blessed month of Ramadan through a streamlined program that combines practical training and field supervision. The initiative is directly overseen by the Youth Vision Council, with potential for further development and continuation beyond Ramadan, enhancing youth presence at the mosque and offering them a meaningful spiritual platform to actively participate in reviving religious rituals.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Raisi, Chairman of the Youth Vision Council at the Department, affirmed that the initiative reflects the Department’s approach to nurturing individuals at various stages of life and embodies its deep belief in the vital role of youth as partners in reinforcing the mosque’s community message. He noted that the initiative seeks to refine young voices and empower them to perform the Adhan in accordance with its Islamic rulings and with excellence, fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility, and transforming the Adhan into a lived spiritual experience.
The Department invites young people to engage and participate in the “Shabab Al Freej” initiative, encouraging those interested to register through the initiative’s link and contribute to reviving the call to prayer during the holy month of Ramadan. Registration details are available through the Department’s official social media channels.
