The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, represented by the Dubai International Quran Award, has announced the completion of preparations for the 25th edition of the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Quran Competition. This competition is one of the most important branches of the Dubai International Quran Award, aiming to encourage and motivate Quran memorizers from both citizens and residents of the UAE. It reflects the leadership's commitment to supporting the memorization of the Quran and encouraging future generations to adhere to its teachings.
The competition will begin on Saturday, January 4, 2025, and will continue until Thursday, January 9, 2025, with the participation of 53 male contestants and 56 female contestants across various judging categories, aimed at showcasing excellence in Quran memorization. The competition will be held at two designated locations: for males, at the Dubai International Quran Award building in Al Mamzar, Dubai, and for females, at the Nahda Women's Association hall in Al Hamriya, Dubai. The events will start daily at 4:00 PM.
A panel of distinguished scholars and experts in Quran competition judging has been selected. The male jury consists of Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Mansouri, Sheikh Jalal Abu Al-Abbas, Dr. Khaled Taher, Dr. Ahmed Fathi Osman, Dr. Hamad Al-Kamali, and Dr. Ahmed Salama. For the female competition, the judging panel includes Dr. Fatima Al-Ali, Mrs. Fatima Mohammed, Mrs. Marwa Khayyata, Mrs. Sarah Mohammed, Mrs. Amal Salem, and Mrs. Maryam Al-Balushi.
In this context, Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Al-Mansouri, head of the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Quran Competition judging panel, stated: "The Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Quran Competition represents one of the key pillars that translates the leadership's vision in promoting and enhancing the culture of the Quran across different segments of society. The competition encourages excellence in Quran recitation and Tajweed, raising awareness about the importance of preserving the holy Quran, which is the foundation of our identity and culture."
Al-Mansouri added that the competition is an opportunity to encourage new generations to learn the Quran, reflect on its meanings, and strengthen the relationship between individuals and the Quran. This contributes to spreading the culture of the Quran, making its recitation and memorization an integral part of daily life. He emphasized that the Sheikha Hind Quran Competition is a living example of the leadership's focus on developing the Islamic cultural aspects within society.
