IACAD requests on Iftaa service via WhatsApp increased 88%

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai is the first government agency in the world that provides its fatwa services by answering fatwa questions via WhatsApp application in order to provide legal fatwas approved by IACAD through new channels that allow the questioner to communicate directly with the Mufti.

“The launch of the "WhatsApp" platform comes with the aim of facilitating the process of providing answers related to fatwas in order to allow the correct fatwas to reach the largest segment of beneficiaries around the world.” Mohamed Al-Kamali, Head of the Fatwa Documentation and Archiving section said, pointing out that IACAD is enhancing religious awareness by providing fatwas from a reliable and mediating authority.

“The WhatsApp platform received approximately 35% of the total e-fatwas requests received by the Fatwa Department.” Al Kamali added, “It is worth mentioning that the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai is the first government Department around the world provides the answering fatwas service via WhatsApp. The fact that the service is relatively new, we have witnessed high demand after the launch of the service, in which e-fatwas witnessed an increase of 88% compared to the same period last year.” Al Kamali concluded.

The fatwa service via WhatsApp aims to encourage people to inquire about Sharia rulings through an interactive, deliberate and easy-to-use platform. It is a service based on three basic things, which is an answer to personal fatwas, as well as receiving and responding to official fatwa requests after the approval of the IACAD Senior Scholars, spreading awareness posts through WhatsApp Status. You can reach the service on the 8003336, Arabic and English questions are received 24/7, and the answer will be within three working days.
