The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has launched the second edition of the “Mutawa’a Al-Fareej” initiative under the slogan “Make Your Time at Home an Investment for You.” The initiative continues its mission of reviving the traditional role of the mutawa’a (female religious teacher) in a modern spirit, through a comprehensive virtual knowledge platform.

This edition witnessed wide participation, with about 1,570 female students distributed across 66 virtual classes — 50 classes dedicated to women and young ladies, involving 1,480 participants, and nine classes allocated to girls aged 6 to 15, with the participation of 90 students.

The initiative achieved remarkable outcomes across its various programs:

• 110 students, including 100 Emirati students, completed the memorization of Surat Al-Baqarah and Surat Aal-Imran.

• Another 110 students completed the memorization of Juz’ Amma and Juz’ Tabarak.

• The “Elite of the Memorizers” program supported 250 students in consolidating what they had memorized.

• Open sessions attracted 740 participants.

• The “Recite It Correctly” program offered 70 students, nearly half of whom were Emiratis, the opportunity to refine their Quranic recitation.

• The Tafseer (Quranic interpretation) program benefited 200 students, including 50 Emiratis, helping them to delve deeper into the meanings and educational lessons of the Holy Quran.

Mona Bakhit Al Falasi, Head of the Department of Female Students and Teachers’ Affairs, affirmed that the “Mutawa’a Al-Fareej” initiative aligns with a strategic vision that leverages digital tools to serve the mission of the mutawa’a who once illuminated her neighborhood with Quran and knowledge. Today, it has become a unifying digital platform that strengthens the status of the Holy Quran and instills Islamic values in mothers, girls, and children.

It is worth noting that the first edition of the initiative included 115 educational circles in Quran recitation and memorization, in addition to 26 religious programs. These paved the way for the launch of the second edition with its expanded content and growing impact on society.
