The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai has launched the activities of Imam Al-Baghawi Week (may Allah have mercy on him) as part of its commitment to highlighting the great scholars of the Islamic nation, introducing their scholarly contributions, and strengthening the connection with the Holy Qur’an and its sciences. This initiative aligns with the Department’s strategic plans and the vision of the wise leadership to promote a moderate Islamic identity and disseminate sound religious knowledge within the community.
The week aims to shed light on the scholarly stature of Imam Al-Baghawi (may Allah have mercy on him), introduce his methodology in Qur’anic exegesis, and highlight his impact in serving the Book of Allah Almighty. It also seeks to enhance awareness of the importance of authentic Islamic heritage and connect it to people’s lives in a contemporary and accessible manner, thereby contributing to raising the religious and intellectual awareness of various segments of society.
The program includes a series of lectures, lessons, and awareness materials. Activities commence on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, with a lecture after the ‘Isha prayer delivered by Sheikh Khalid Ismail at Ibad Al-Rahman Mosque in Al Barsha, titled “Tafsir of Al-Baghawi (may Allah have mercy on him).” This is followed on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, by a visual infographic video published through Dubai Manarat, a platform affiliated with the Department, presenting a short introduction to Imam Al-Baghawi and his scholarly approach.
On Thursday, 25 December 2025, a lecture after the ‘Isha prayer will be delivered by Dr. Abdullah Al Kamali at Salem bin Bakhit Mosque in Al Mizhar, titled “Pages from the Life of Al-Baghawi (may Allah have mercy on him).” The Friday sermon on 26 December 2025 in all mosques across Dubai will focus on the biography and scholarly life of Imam Al-Baghawi (may Allah have mercy on him).
The activities continue on Saturday, 27 December 2025, with a lecture after the Maghrib prayer delivered by Sheikh Khalid Al Ghuraib at Al-Shaheed Issa Mosque in Hatta, titled “Tafsir of Surah Al-Fatihah from Al-Baghawi’s Tafsir (may Allah have mercy on him).” The week concludes on Sunday, 28 December 2025, with mosque lessons in all mosques across Dubai after the Maghrib prayer, focusing on the biography of Imam Al-Baghawi (may Allah have mercy on him).
This initiative reflects IACAD’s dedication to reviving the lives of scholars, cementing their status in the collective consciousness of society, and disseminating authentic Islamic knowledge through diverse methods.
