IACAD Launches "Ibn Kathir Week"

IACAD Launches "Ibn Kathir Week"

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has launched the "Ibn Kathir Week" events to commemorate the renowned Islamic scholar Ibn Kathir, in recognition of his significant contributions to Islamic heritage, his influential work in the interpretation of the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and his substantial impact on Islamic jurisprudence. The events will officially begin on November 18, 2024.

The week will feature a wide range of cultural and religious activities across several mosques and councils in the Emirate of Dubai, including lectures and interactive workshops that will bring together youth and specialists in Islamic sciences of IACAD. During these sessions, participants will learn about Ibn Kathir's unique methodology in interpreting the Qur'an, which is considered one of the most prominent references in Islamic scholarship. In addition to lectures, participants will have access to digital applications and awareness videos on social media platforms that allow them to explore Ibn Kathir's manuscripts in fine detail. The attendees will also be granted an ijazah (authorization) with an uninterrupted chain of transmission. Moreover, a specialized seminar will be held at the University of Jumeirah to discuss various aspects of Ibn Kathir's life and his scholarly contributions in this field.

IACAD through this week will deepen young generations understanding of the research and writing methods adopted by Ibn Kathir, and enhance their skills in studying Islamic heritage.
