IACAD Enhances the Readiness of Islamic Institutions Through an Introductory Workshop on Tax Compliance

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, in cooperation with the Dubai Finance Department and the Federal Tax Authority, organized a specialized tax awareness and introductory workshop for Quran memorization centers and Islamic institutions in the emirate. This initiative comes as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to enhance institutional efficiency and raise awareness of the regulatory and legislative requirements related to the religious and charitable sector.

The workshop aligns with the department’s vision of empowering Islamic institutions and Quran memorization centers to keep pace with legal and tax developments while strengthening concepts of governance, transparency, and institutional compliance. These efforts contribute to enhancing operational sustainability and improving administrative and financial efficiency in accordance with international best practices.

The workshop included an overview of applicable tax procedures and requirements, as well as mechanisms for tax compliance for non-profit public benefit institutions. It also clarified regulatory requirements related to financial records and accounting reports, while raising awareness of practices that enhance the readiness of Islamic institutions and strengthen their compliance with applicable legislation, ensuring sound procedures and sustainable institutional performance.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of integration between regulatory authorities, Islamic institutions, and Quran memorization centers, as well as the department’s role in supporting these institutions and enabling them to fulfill their community and outreach missions efficiently and effectively through a flexible and supportive regulatory environment that contributes to enhancing the quality of services provided to the community.

The department affirmed that organizing this workshop is part of its strategic plans aimed at strengthening institutional awareness and promoting a culture of compliance and governance, in line with the vision of the wise leadership to build a more efficient, sustainable, and transparent government work system, further reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading model in the development of institutional Islamic and charitable work.
