As part of supporting Dubai’s efforts to build stable families and enhance quality of life, the Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities participated in the “Dubai Weddings” programme, under the generous patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai (may God protect him).
The Department delivered an interactive awareness lecture titled “Marriage: A Covenant of Affection and the Responsibility of Happiness – Start It Right”, presented by Sheikh Mohammed Hassan Al Taher, Senior Chief Mufti at the Department, with the participation of around 70 Emirati young men who are preparing for marriage.
This participation comes as part of ongoing efforts to support Emirati youth and prepare them to build stable families, strengthening social cohesion and reinforcing authentic Emirati family values. It aligns with the objectives of the Year of the Family 2026 and Dubai’s community development priorities, reflecting a commitment to empowering future spouses with the knowledge and skills needed for a marital life based on understanding and shared responsibility.
The lecture addressed practical themes focusing on the Islamic concept of marriage as a covenant based on affection, mercy, and complementarity. It highlighted the importance of psychological and social preparation for married life, as well as the objectives of marriage in achieving stability, chastity, and building a cohesive society.
It also reviewed key real-life challenges that couples may face at the beginning of married life, such as differences in personality, weak communication skills, and the impact of social and economic pressures. The lecture further provided practical tools to strengthen understanding and family stability through positive dialogue, mutual respect, flexibility, and joint future planning. Sheikh Mohammed Hassan Al Taher emphasized during the lecture that a stable family is the foundation of a cohesive and secure society, noting that educating young people preparing for marriage helps prevent family problems and enhances quality of life, positively contributing to social sustainability and strengthening value systems within society.
This initiative reflects fruitful cooperation between the Community Development Authority in Dubai and the Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in supporting national initiatives that promote family stability and reinforce shared responsibility, in line with the leadership’s vision of building a cohesive society that enjoys stability and happiness.
