In response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him, the Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities announces the performance of Salat al-Istisqa in all mosques across the emirate where Friday prayers are held, on Friday, October 17, at 12:45 PM — that is, half an hour before the Friday sermon. This is in following the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in seeking rainfall and asking Allah for mercy.
The performance of this prayer comes in response to the guidance of the wise leadership, which is keen on reviving collective religious rituals and instilling values of faith, reliance on Allah, turning to Him, and certainty in His power within the hearts of members of society.
The department calls on all members of the community, both citizens and residents, to participate in performing this faithful ritual, turning to Allah Almighty to request rainfall and to spread blessings throughout the country.
