The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai has announced that the Lunar Eclipse Prayer will be held across all mosques across the emirate on the evening of Sunday, September 7, in conjunction with the rare astronomical phenomenon of the total lunar eclipse, which will begin at 20:27 and last until 22:57 local time. During this period, the moon will be fully obscured in the Earth’s shadow, offering a majestic cosmic scene awaited by residents of the UAE.
His Excellency Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of IACAD, affirmed that holding the Lunar Eclipse Prayer comes as part of the department’s keenness to revive confirmed Sunnah practices recommended by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and to connect the community with the cosmic signs of Allah that inspire reflection and contemplation. He pointed out that this initiative contributes to raising religious awareness among members of society and strengthening values of faith and humility.
His Excellency further explained that the Lunar Eclipse Prayer will be held in mosques across Dubai, emphasizing that this ritual carries a spiritual and educational message that reflects the greatness of the Almighty Creator and reminds Muslims of the importance of turning to Allah during cosmic phenomena.
