The Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department is keen to implement the vision of our leadership through the national policy to empower people with determination to create a barrier-free society that guarantees a decent life for them, as they are part of the Social fabric in the UAE. The department is creating an appropriate working environment for them to help strengthening the concept of merging this group to society, in order to achieve equality.

Aousha Ahmed Obaid, Acting Director of Human Resources Department, said: "The department assumes the responsibility of the community by adopting comprehensive strategies to bring out the required change according to the criteria that is fulfilling the needs of people with determination. This helps to shift the concept from an employment to the concept of empowerment in work, which enhances their presence in activities and events.

Obaid stressed that the department did not put a limit to the recruitment. It accepts different cases of people with determination and their employment in different departments, through communication with Knowledge and Human Development Authority and Ministry of Community Development represented by the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment.

The Dubai Islamic department put the people with determination in Religious department, religious services in mosques department, research department, mosque engineering and care department, and institutional support sector. The total of people with determination in the department are 4 cases of visual disability, 1 hearing disability, 1 autism case and 4 physical disabilities.

Obaid pointed out that the program, "My Opportunity," which was launched by the Department has effectively contributed to attract different competencies of people with determination. She continued that Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department is the first department at the level of Dubai government departments asked for The Human Resources Law in Braille format, provided all the needs for the visual disability to enhance the awareness in the work environment.

The department aims to take into account the people with determination by providing private parking, washrooms suit their needs, as well as the issuance of special identification cards to them.
