Donor Supports "Your Donation saves lives" with AED 7.5 Million

Donor Supports "Your Donation saves lives" with AED 7.5 Million

A donor from Dubai has committed to paying AED 7.5 million in support of the " Your Donation saves lives " initiative in its second season. This initiative, endorsed by the newspaper "Emarat Al-Youm," the Al Jalila Foundation affiliated with Dubai Health Authority, and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, aims to treat and transplant kidneys for 67 patients.

The donor's contribution will facilitate kidney transplant surgeries for 15 children suffering from kidney failure, who come from various nationalities. Additionally, it will cover necessary medications and provide therapeutic follow-up for the patients for two years after the operation.

The goal of the " Your Donation saves lives " initiative in its second season is to raise a total of AED 46,157,970 to cover the treatment costs of 67 individuals suffering from kidney failure who require kidney transplants. This will be achieved by encouraging the private sector, business leaders, and community members to adopt this initiative and provide the necessary support for the targeted group.

The initiative includes a list of kidney failure patients who need transplants: 15 children and 52 adults from different nationalities, including Gulf nationals, 24 from Arab countries, 33 Asians, six from European countries, and two from African countries.

Since its launch last week, the total donations for this initiative have reached AED 12.5 million, which is enough to treat and transplant kidneys for 22 patients. The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai has contributed 4 million dirhams, the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation in Dubai has provided 1 million dirhams, and a donor has contributed AED 7.5 million.

The surgeries will be performed at the Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, Dubai Hospital, and Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai.

Dr. Amer Mohamed Al Zarooni, the Executive Director of the Al Jalila Foundation, stated that the launch of the initiative last week brought good news regarding community engagement. Within days of announcing the "Your Donation is Life" initiative in its second season, a donor contributed AED 7.5 million through the hotline in "Emarat Al-Youm" to cover the costs of kidney transplant surgeries for 15 children whose financial circumstances prevented them from undergoing these operations. The surgeries will take place at the Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital.

He added, "We can only extend our thanks and gratitude to the generous donor for their contribution to support this initiative, reflecting the authentic values of generosity that characterize the community of the United Arab Emirates. This generous donation and noble humanitarian gesture will save the lives of these children. We encourage other benefactors to participate in supporting the initiative, which continues throughout the current period, to help those in need among kidney failure patients."

Ibrahim Shukrallah, the Editor-in-Chief of "Emarat Al-Youm," praised the community's swift response to the "Your Donation is Life 2" initiative as soon as it was launched. This response confirms the genuine solidarity of individuals in supporting humanitarian efforts, with this generous contribution reinforcing the values of social responsibility within the community and unifying efforts aimed at saving lives in line with the vision of leadership.

He expressed appreciation for the noble and prompt contributions, noting that community members have a tremendous opportunity to participate in saving the lives of kidney failure patients and assisting them in becoming productive members of society. This noble humanitarian mission reflects the power of individuals to make a positive impact and leave a meaningful mark in the lives of patients.

He pointed out that this donation demonstrates a high sense of social responsibility from the donor and serves as evidence of the commitment of business leaders, the private sector, and citizens to participate in providing support and assistance for such community initiatives that serve the public interest. He called on all capable government and private institutions to embody the slogan of the " Your Donation saves lives" initiative by participating in providing the necessary support for this humanitarian initiative and assisting other patients included in it.
