A donor has paid AED 62,610 to cover the cost of an urgent surgical and cosmetic operation for a five-year-old Syrian child who has suffered since birth from congenital deformities and severe adhesions in the fingers of his left hand, caused by a genetic disorder that resulted in continuous pain affecting his daily life. The child’s family was unable to afford the treatment due to difficult financial circumstances.
The “Hotline” coordinated between the donor and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai to transfer the donation amount directly to the child’s account at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, which is affiliated with the “SEHA” healthcare group, in preparation for performing the required surgery.
The child’s father expressed his profound happiness and gratitude for this humanitarian gesture, affirming that the donation restored hope to his family and brought joy to their hearts after a long period of suffering and hardship.
The newspaper Emirates Today had previously published, on December 22, the story of the child’s condition. His father explained that the pregnancy period was normal and the birth occurred without complications, but adhesions and deformities in the fingers of the child’s left hand were noticed immediately after birth.
He noted that doctors confirmed early on that the condition could be treated surgically; however, limited financial means delayed the operation, leading to increased pain as the child grew older and began experiencing difficulty moving his hand.
He added that medical examinations and imaging confirmed the need for urgent surgical intervention to separate the fingers and correct the congenital deformity. The cost of the operation amounted to AED 62,610, a sum beyond his financial capacity, especially as he had recently incurred significant expenses for treating his father, who suffered a sudden health emergency.
This initiative reflects a meaningful example of social solidarity, helping to alleviate the suffering of a child and his family, and offering them renewed hope for a more stable and promising future.
