A donor has paid AED 40,000 to renew the health insurance card of a 56-year-old patient suffering from chronic kidney failure and diabetes, enabling him to continue receiving dialysis sessions and necessary medications after the expiration of his insurance had prevented him from accessing treatment.
The “Hotline” coordinated between the donor and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai to transfer the donation amount to the patient’s account at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
The newspaper Emirates Today had published, on January 12, the story of the patient’s struggle with illness and his inability to afford the cost of renewing his health insurance due to difficult financial circumstances.
The patient expressed deep gratitude and happiness upon learning of the donation, praising the donor’s humanitarian gesture and support during a critical time. He affirmed that such initiatives reflect the spirit of compassion and solidarity deeply rooted in Emirati society, particularly in supporting patients and humanitarian cases.
He previously explained that his health condition deteriorated following severe diabetes, which led to multiple complications, including chronic kidney failure, vision impairment, and other serious health issues, requiring strict adherence to a long-term treatment plan.
He added that he had relied entirely on his health insurance to receive treatment, but its recent expiration made it impossible for him to continue therapy. The renewal cost of AED 40,000 exceeded his financial capacity, especially after losing his only source of income due to his inability to work.
