Syrian teenager Qasim, aged 16, received generous humanitarian support from a donor who covered AED 15,000 of his medical expenses for Crohn’s disease—an inflammatory bowel condition that can lead to severe complications. The donation was coordinated through the “Hotline” in cooperation with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, and the amount was transferred directly to the hospital account.
Qasim’s mother expressed her deep gratitude to the donor, describing the contribution as a “ray of hope” during a difficult time for the family. She noted that this act of kindness reflects the spirit of compassion and solidarity that the people of the UAE are known for.
Qasim was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease over two years ago and has since been receiving regular treatment through specialized injections administered twice a month. He also undergoes regular check-ups at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
According to a medical report from the hospital, the disease led to significant weight loss, chronic abdominal pain, and an inability to eat or engage in physical activity. As a result, Qasim underwent surgery to remove parts of the affected intestine in an effort to control the disease and save his life. He now requires continued treatment for a year, with the total cost amounting to AED 73,716. After the donor’s contribution, AED 58,716 remains.
Due to the family’s difficult financial situation, they have been unable to cover the treatment costs. Qasim’s mother had earlier appealed to kind-hearted individuals through Emarat Al Youm newspaper, in hopes of helping her son regain his health and return to a normal life.
With the donation facilitated through the coordinated efforts of the “Hotline” and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, the family now looks forward with hope that more generous hands will come forward to help cover the remaining treatment costs, so Qasim can complete his medical journey and recover fully.
