Donor Pays 23,500 AED for "Amira's" Uterine Cancer Surgery in Coordination with IACAD and "Hotline"

Donor Pays 23,500 AED for "Amira's" Uterine Cancer Surgery in Coordination with IACAD and "Hotline"

A donor has contributed 23,500 AED to cover the cost of surgery for "Amira" (64 years old) from Djibouti. Coordination was made between the donor and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai through the "Hotline" to transfer the donation to the patient’s account at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi, where she was receiving treatment.

The patient expressed her deep gratitude to the donor, noting that this gesture reflects the spirit of generosity and kindness of the people of the UAE, who are known for their charity and support for those in need.

On December 23rd, Emirates Today published the story of Amira's struggle with the disease. A report from Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital, a copy of which was obtained by the newspaper, revealed that the patient was admitted to the emergency department with severe abdominal pain, heavy vaginal bleeding, and a loss of appetite.

The necessary tests and examinations showed that she had abnormal cell growth in the lining of her uterus, confirming a diagnosis of uterine cancer. According to the medical report, it was essential to perform urgent surgery to remove the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes to prevent the spread of the disease.

The patient explained that she had been suffering from severe pelvic pain and difficulty moving, which led her to visit a private hospital where she underwent several tests and treatments. However, after a week, the pain worsened, prompting her to be transferred to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, where her condition was diagnosed.

She further explained that the doctor advised an urgent surgical procedure to remove the uterus, but she was in shock after receiving the diagnosis. She added that her financial situation made it impossible for her to afford the surgery, as she works in a women’s tailoring shop earning a monthly salary of 2,000 AED, which is insufficient to cover her basic needs.
