The Arab Bank for Investment and Foreign Trade - Islamic Banking Services, and Dubai Islamic Bank paid AED 175,925, the expenses of the rental case of (Umm Salem), as the Arab Bank paid AED 100,000, while Dubai Islamic Bank paid AED 75,925. The hotline of the Emirates Today newspaper coordinated between the Banks and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, to transfer the donation amount to the concerned authority.
(Umm Salem) had previously told the story of her suffering to the newspaper saying that seven years ago she got divorced and moved out to live in the heirs’ house. Three years ago, she left the house, which forced her to rent a house worth of AED 95,000 annually, and she settled there with her four children. Her living conditions deteriorated significantly, especially after her ex-husband stopped paying alimony, which led to her inability to pay the rent installments.
(Umm Salem) indicated that during her Cancer treatment, the owner of the house was asking her to pay the late rental amounts, but she couldn’t. An executive judgment was issued against her to pay AED 175,925 of rent arrears.
(Umm Salem) said that she was able to rent another house in Mirdif area worth of AED 80,000 annually, and an amount of AED 50,000 was paid by a government agency in Dubai, and AED 30,000 she must pay.
She added that her only income is the assistance she receives from social affairs at a value of AED 5280 per month, and an amount of AED 1,626 that she receives from a government agency in Dubai, and these amounts hardly cover the living expenses of her family of four children.
She explained that her eldest son finally find a job a month ago with a salary of AED 11,000, pointing out that her son had previously applied for housing since 2018, and is still waiting for his turn.
