A benefactor and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai have donated AED 8,216,686 in support of the Yak Al Aoun 7 initiative. The donation will help secure the release of 32 Emirati citizens who are financially distressed and facing legal cases related to debts.

The anonymous benefactor contributed AED 6 million, while the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai provided AED 2,216,686.

The initiative—adopted by Emarat Al Youm, Dubai Courts, and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai—aims to secure the release of 185 Emirati citizens in Dubai who are facing financial distress and legal action due to debt-related cases. The total outstanding debts targeted by the initiative amount to AED 21,094,449, with the goal of reuniting beneficiaries with their families before Eid al Fitr.

Emarat Al Youm was provided with the number of eligible beneficiaries after their cases were reviewed and approved by the Committee of Courts of Goodness at Dubai Courts.

The committee also worked on settling the financial cases of those included in the initiative with creditors, successfully reducing the total debts from AED 38,896,630 to AED 21,094,449.

The initiative aims to encourage community members and institutions to participate in supporting financially distressed citizens and is part of the newspaper’s initiatives during the Year of the Family.

Earlier contributions to the initiative included AED 2 million from Tarahum Charity Foundation, AED 500,000 from Al Waleed Real Estate, AED 1.4 million from Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation Dubai, AED 1 million from Dubai Insurance Company, AED 2 million from Beit Al Khair Society, and AED 1 million from Dar Al Ber Society.

With the latest contribution from the benefactor and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, the total donations raised since the launch of the initiative have reached AED 16,116,686, enabling the release of 135 citizens included in the initiative.

Mohammed Musabeh Dahi, Executive Director of the Charity Work Sector at the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, stated that the department’s contribution of AED 2,216,686 reflects its strong commitment to social responsibility and embodies the spirit of solidarity and mutual support that characterizes Emirati society across humanitarian initiatives.

He added that the department continues to strengthen its strategic partnerships with supporting entities to develop sustainable humanitarian initiatives that contribute to community well-being and address societal needs, in line with Dubai’s vision of establishing an integrated institutional charitable system.

For his part, Judge Khalid Al Mansoori, Head of the Execution Court and Chairman of the Committee of Courts of Goodness at Dubai Courts, affirmed that the Yak Al-Aoun initiative reflects the UAE’s approach of studying the realities of individuals facing financial or social challenges and addressing them through a humanitarian and institutional framework.

He explained that the initiative is based on a deep understanding of the consequences of financial distress on individuals and families, which may lead to broader social and economic impacts, making early intervention and organized support essential to restoring stability.

He added that the initiative embodies the concept of supportive justice, which balances the enforcement of the law with consideration of humanitarian circumstances, preserving the dignity of beneficiaries and giving them an opportunity to overcome challenges and rebuild their lives with confidence and stability.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Shukrallah, Editor-in-Chief of Emarat Al Youm, said that under the directives of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the initiative seeks—through cooperation with concerned entities—to create a positive social impact by empowering individuals and enabling community members to play an active role in supporting those in need.

He emphasized that the community solidarity witnessed in “Yak Al-Aoun 7” demonstrates how social responsibility among individuals and institutions strengthens national belonging and fosters justice and cohesion within society.

Members of the community were also invited to participate in the humanitarian initiative to help relieve the distress of debtors and bring joy to their families ahead of Eid al Fitr.

It is worth noting that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 2019 between Dubai Courts, Emarat Al Youm, and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai to adopt the Yak Al-Aoun initiative, aimed at securing the release of Emirati citizens facing financial distress and legal action due to debt-related cases in Dubai by encouraging private sector entities and business leaders to support the initiative.

During previous seasons, Yak Al-Aoun contributed to the release of 875 financially distressed citizens in Dubai, with total support reaching AED 116,984,016.
