A donor pays off AED 12,400 in rent arrears owed to Abu Yusuf, in coordination with the IACAD and the hotline

A donor has paid AED 12,474 in overdue rent on behalf of (Abu Yusuf), who had been facing difficult financial circumstances that prevented him from settling the amount. (Abu Yusuf) expressed his deep gratitude to the donor, praising the generous act and support during such a challenging time. He noted that charitable work is not unfamiliar to the people and residents of the UAE, as it reflects their deeply rooted values.

The "Hotline" coordinated between the donor and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai to transfer the donation to the concerned party. Earlier, Emarat Al Youm had published, on June 16, the story of (Abu Yusuf), who was struggling financially and unable to pay the accumulated rent. This led the landlord to file a legal case to compel him to pay the full amount due.

According to his wife’s statement to Emarat Al Youm, (Abu Yusuf) had secured a job in 2020 at a private company in Ajman with a monthly salary of AED 6,000. As his financial situation stabilized, he decided to bring his family from abroad to live with him, wishing to be surrounded by his wife and four children.

She added that her husband was able to meet all the family’s daily needs and financial commitments. They lived comfortably without facing significant difficulties. She supported the family by preparing small batches of cakes, pastries, and sweets, which she sold to neighbors and friends at affordable prices, helping to maintain their household stability.

However, in 2023, his employer informed him of plans to downsize due to financial losses and eventually terminated his employment. Since then, Abu Yusuf made several attempts to find a new job but was unsuccessful, which led to the accumulation of debt and the loss of financial balance for the family.

The wife explained that the debts kept piling up due to her husband's inability to repay them, especially as he had an outstanding bank loan and was committed to covering the children’s school fees. After the rent arrears built up, the landlord of their apartment in Ajman came to their home demanding payment of AED 12,474. When her husband was unable to pay, the landlord filed a lawsuit against him, resulting in a court ruling sentencing him to prison.
